Despatch Operator

Precision Investment Castings Ltd, part of the Erlson Group is a manufacturing company specialising in steel and aluminium castings for the Aerospace, Defence and Oil & Gas Industries.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Receive, process, and prioritise outgoing orders for dispatch.
- Pick and pack items accurately according to order specifications.
- Prepare shipping labels, delivery notes and other necessary documentation for outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate with logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by conducting regular stock checks and reconciliations.
- Monitor shipment statuses and provide updates to customers or internal stakeholders as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding health, safety, working practices and security.
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the dispatch process, such as inventory discrepancies or shipping delays.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and warehouse, to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize dispatch processes and enhance efficiency.

**Requirements**:
Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a warehouse or distribution centre environment.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move objects of a reasonable weight.

Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Understanding of health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations.

**Preferred Qualifications (but not essential as training will be given)**:
Forklift certification.

Experience with warehouse management systems.

Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures. (desired but not essential).

Previous experience in a despatch or logistics role within the engineering industry.

**Hours of work**:
Expected hours: 37 per week (early finish Friday)

Mon - Thurs 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with 30 minutes unpaid break

Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

**Salary**:
£10.80 per hour
