**Job summary**:
In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose - to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile.

We have an opportunity within DHSC’s Planning, Performance, Reporting and Secretariat (PPRS) Unit which sits within the Ministers, Accountability and Strategy Directorate. The Unit covers departmental governance and business planning, risk and performance reporting and offers an excellent opportunity to see the breadth of the Department’s work.

The team is predominantly split across Leeds and London. It is a friendly, welcoming and supportive team. While the work is often fast-paced, we place your wellbeing above all else and you will be supported to stretch your capabilities and thrive in the role. If this sounds like an environment you’d like to work in, we’d love to hear from you.

**Job description**:
The role will offer a unique chance to get to know everything that the Department is working on and to build relationships with teams and senior staff across all our directorates. The role will suit somebody comfortable with processing and analysing lots of information across a wide range of areas and building strong working relationships within DHSC and beyond, including Cabinet Office and HM Treasury.

**Person specification**:

- Account managing several Director General Groups - developing good working relationships, being the point of contact for performance reporting queries, and managing reporting commissions for the Group.
- Leading on the Department's quarterly performance and risk reporting, providing constructive challenge to teams on their returns.
- Producing the Department’s quarterly Performance and Risk Pack for the Performance and Risk Committee and Departmental Board, including presenting findings to senior staff.
- Leading the secretariat for the Department’s Performance and Risk Committee and Bi-annual Assurance Meetings, including the management of the agenda, meeting papers, minutes, and briefings for the Chair and other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Developing the Department’s Performance Summary for the Annual Report and Accounts, and the Secretary of State Report.
- Working alongside the Business Planning Team to develop our Outcome Delivery Plan and the reporting to Cabinet Office/HM Treasury that sits alongside it.
- Continuing to make improvements to the reporting process and reporting.
- Deputising for the G7 Head of Performance Reporting when appropriate.

**Key skills and experience required for the role**
- A strong communicator, building strong relationships with senior staff and their offices across the Department.
- A strong organiser able to balance competing performance deadlines.
- A strategic thinker to understand the challenges and risks DHSC faces and ensure that our Executive leaders, Ministers and Non-Executive Directors are having the right conversations.
- Committed to continuous improvement of processes and ways of working and able to design proportionate processes for reporting that take into account intended use and reporting burden on teams.
- Able to understand and analyse large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data as well as summarise and present analysis and recommendations for written and oral distribution to senior staff.

Your normal place of work will be your contractual primary workplace, usually either London or Leeds. Within DHSC we offer non-contractual hybrid working. The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time spent in the office, enabling in person interaction and collaboration and enhancing team working, learning, and support.

Opportunities for some working from home may be available; other flexible working options may be discussed with the hiring manager in line with individual circumstances and business need.

**Behaviours**:
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

- Seeing the Big Picture
- Communicating and Influencing
- Leadership
- Changing
