**Health & Safety Manager** - ( Manufacturing ) nr **Ashby**:Local business - Great people - loads to do - reporting to the Group H&S Manager - 9 mil turnover Manufacturing business. 80 staff - growing SME - real opportunity to make a difference to Health and Safety and Quality ( SHEQ ) **4 days site based 1 day home based per week.**
Responsibility for developing and implementing a SHEQ strategy which improves standards **80% H&S / 20% Quality**
This position will adopt a hands-on approach to drive and promote continuous improvement in culture, systems and behaviours.
**Key Responsibilities/Duties**:
- Always promote Health & Safety in the workplace, displaying excellent personal safety and challenging others when unsafe behaviour is observed. Ensure that behaviour is in accordance with the company Health & Safety guidelines.
- Manage and facilitate health and safety activities in a manner that ensures all statutory and company requirements are achieved and maintained in support of the business objectives
- Promote health and safety, driving tangible improvements in safety performance and culture
- Lead the investigation and management of incidents (including major incidents), providing advice on root causation, best preventative measures and sharing lessons learned
- Carry out statistical analysis and trending to identify issues of concern; assist in the creation, modification and delivery of relevant action plans
- To promote internal Health & Safety auditing and complete audits (where required) to maintain a safe working environment and systems
- Develop SHEQ Policies and Procedures, and deploy these throughout the site
- Identify gaps in compliance and develop roadmap to drive closure of identified items through the team
- Manage SHEQ improvement projects
- Educate the team in SHEQ principles
- Deliver detailed and robust risk assessments for key business processes
- Develop and embed QC processes across manufacturing and technical functions
- Assisting where necessary on key Quality and Environmental issues, where accreditations for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are currently secured
- Engaging with all levels of the organisation from Board level to site and liaising with external stakeholders
- Carry out H&S inductions with new starters and deliver safety based training to all employees
- Any other duties reasonably requested by your line manager
- Work closely with the Group Health and Safety Manager
**Skills & Experience**
- Extensive experience in a SHEQ role; successfully influencing, engaging and coordinating a range of stakeholders towards a common safety goal
- A demonstrable track record of improving health and safety management and outcomes within a manufacturing environment.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in Health and Safety
- Prior experience delivering robust quality control and quality improvement projects in a ideally in a MTO fabrication environment
- Good knowledge of MS Excel & Safety Systems
