**Laboratory & Health & Safety Assistant Manager**

**Job Purpose for Laboratory & Health & Safety Assistant Manager**
- To ensure the quality and safety of the company’s products.
- To act with the Technical Manager in creating an environment to produce food product safely.
- To run the laboratory in a safe and efficient manner.
- To act with Technical Manager and other members of the Health and Safety team to ensure the Health and Safety of employees and that the company works within Group and legal requirements.

**Position Functions**
- Manage a small team in the laboratory and conduct testing alongside the Quality Assistant
- To keep laboratory procedures current, to conduct ring testing annually and trend analysis for results.
- Assist the Technical Manager in ensuring that all raw materials meet food safety legislative requirements, that they are accompanied by certification and arrive in good condition.
- Ensure raw materials are tested on a risk-based criteria.
- Assist in the implementation of those polices that ensure our products and procedures meet current food safety, health & safety and trading standards legislation.
- Drive Heath and Safety throughout the business including keeping Health and Safety Risk
- Attend, contribute to, minute and report quality and health and safety meetings.
- To become an active member of the HACCP team and undertake HACCP training to intermediate level.
- Manage the production of customer samples including the organisation of customers sample requests and sample distribution.
- Ensure that the calibration of critical equipment is current and audited monthly. To carry out data entry through excel and SAP.
- Assist in the design of new procedures and up dating old procedures related to your role.

**Skills and Experience**
- A bachelor’s degree in a Science is desirable but not essential.
- Must be prepared to undertake training courses if necessary.
- Must be numerate, computer literate and thorough.
- Must have the ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must drive, and hold a current driving licence.
