To provide phlebotomy services to our Out patient departments acting multiple sites within Northumbria Trust.
A seven day service where each staff member will have a base site with the expectation of cross site working when required.
The Out-patient's teams on these sites are all closely aligned through the line managers working together across the sites to provide High standards of care.
The teams are well-established and have a positive history of the safe, timely, effective and efficient delivery of the services associated with the department.
Phlebotomy has always been a part of the daily routine within the department but the changing face of Out patients and how clinic delivery is adapting has opened these opportunities to enhance the delivery of this aspect of care.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE VACANCIES PRIOR TO THE ADVERTISED CLOSING DATE WHEN WE ARE IN RECEIPT OF SUFFICIENT APPLICATIONS
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
To work as part of the phlebotomy team by obtaining samples from patients by venepuncture and ensuring they are correctly labelled and transported to the Pathology Department.
A Phlebotomy Service is provided to inpatient wards, outpatients and virtual outpatient clinics/departments. The service accepts referrals from GPs and Clinicians within the Business Unit.
The work involves handling biological samples and paperwork associated with this process therefore the Trust and departmental health and safety policies must be adhered to at all times.
