**Job summary**:
Working under Air Command Media and Comms within a small Military/Civil Service team at RAF Northolt, this full-time position is responsible for the coordination and allocation the appropriate Ceremonial assets to Service, National and State events in order to keep the RAF in the public eye in accordance with the RAF Command Plan. This desk-based post requires excellent oral, and written communication skills to enable professional liaison with members of the public and defence personnel in the development of the Ceremonial team’s programme. Awareness of the capabilities of the current RAF Ceremonial is desirable. A very good understanding of IT, MS office in particular including database and spreadsheet function is essential as much of the role involves the accurate and succinct coordination Duty Air Officer Roster for their attendance at RAF Events along with planning, coordination, and execution of National, Tri Service, and RAF Ceremonial events.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
- As SO3 RAF Ceremonial (Support) you are responsible for the routine administration and oversight of the ceremonial output of the office. In the absence of the SO2 RAF Ceremonial you are to step up and undertake the ceremonial events aspects of their role and any other aspects of the post SO2 RAF Ceremonial events deems appropriate. Routinely SO3 RAF Ceremonial (Support) will have the ability to proactively engage with a range of tri-Service and civilian government and non-government agencies, to champion the image of the RAF in a national and international arena. A good team-worker, confident, even-tempered, well-motivated and be able to communicate at all levels. Discretion is a vital element of the role.**Person specification**:
1. The SO3 RAF Ceremonial (Support) is responsible to SO2 RAF Ceremonial for assisting in the delivery of the events led by the RAF Ceremonial Office. In particular providing administrative tasks in support of, and as directed and prioritised by, SO2 RAF Ceremonial Events to event project officers.
2.Ensuring the following duties are carried out in support of the Ceremonial Programme:
a. Priority is to be given to administrative support for recurring events as prioritised by SO2 RAF Ceremonial. This will involve occasional weekend duties.
b. Supporting SO1 Ceremonial in the staffing of all aspects of Unit Badges (including slate badges). This is to include the photographic recording of Badges and the maintenance of the Badge Register.
c. Supporting SO1 Ceremonial in the staffing of all aspects of the Colours and Standards Replacement Programme and maintaining up-to-date records.
d. The compilation and maintenance of the Duty Air Officer Roster.
e. Liaise with LM for the provision of transport to MRAF’s and former CAS’s.
f. Undertaking other projects as directed by SO2 RAF Ceremonial
g. Deputising for SO2 RAF Ceremonial when absent.
h. The taking of Minutes/Records of Decisions at meetings as required by SO2 RAF Ceremonial.
I. Point of contact for the Battle of Britain Heritage Walk guides, maintain stocks, and distribute to: St Clement Danes Church, Westminster Abbey etc.
j. Carry out the duties of EO admin in their absence. Collection of mail from the Central Registry daily. Distribute mail to all RAF Ceremonial team members. Ensure that all outgoing mail is delivered to the Central Registry in time for the afternoon collection by the Royal Mail.
k. Assisting all Staff in administration and on-site duties for ad hoc ceremonial events.
l. Support SO2 RAF Ceremonial with Freedom of Information requests.
m. Assist in the compilation of nominal rolls, in conjunction with CMLO, of personnel nominated to duties at Runnymede, Battle of Britain, the Annual Church Service.
