Remote, United Kingdom My Pickle CIC Full time

We want to help anyone facing any health or wellbeing problem to find help fast. At our public facing website mypickle.org we connect individuals to trusted external support options (we don't provide support ourselves).

With your expert input across a four-month project we can make significant improvements to:

- Make support easier to find by suggesting changes to the scope of topics we cover and how/where these are presented
- Assure individuals they are looking for support in the right area by writing clear descriptions of problems and the types of support available
- Show more relevant search results by considering what search terms individuals may enter when describing the problem they are facing
- Show related support, if there are common relationships between problems in your field and other areas
- Review and suggest any other improvements to connect people to support.
- In the future we would like to add local support services. What criteria should we consider to ensure data is accurate, kept up to date, and to ensure safeguarding for individuals?

You should have professional experience in one or more of the following topic areas:
employment support; redudancy support; employment rights; employer disputes; career advice or other areas covered on our website.

**Who We Are**

11.8million people in the UK struggle to find support. Sadly, 2 in 5 will delay or give up looking because of this. With your help, we can connect more people to the support they need when they need it.

Hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life have already taken part in creating the UK’s largest vetted directory of support services. The directory provides clear and unbiased information on national support services such as helplines. It covers all life challenges from health to housing and information on over 2,600 services is shared:

- With the general public at free website mypickle.org and My Pickle social media channels
- With companies to assist customers or employees in need

Over the past two years we have directly connected over 5,600 people to support, and our work has picked up many awards. With your help, we can connect many more people to support during these incredibly tough times.

**Why We Need You**

As a volunteer-driven initiative, volunteers are our beating heart. We would not exist without them offering their time, skills and expertise to help others. Key details for Cohort 6 of our volunteer Cohort programme:

- Volunteer two hours per week
- Cohort 6 runs from 20 February 2023 to 19 June 2023 (four months)
- Volunteer remotely from the comfort of your own home
- Volunteer with flexible hours (aside from meetings below), easy to fit alongside existing commitments
- Training, friendly buddies and team meetings to welcome and assist you

**The Role**

As a Volunteer Consultant, you will be part of our Product Hub team. The aim of the Product Hub volunteer team is to make it easier for people to find support by improving our directory of services. The key activities for this specific role are outlined above.
- Role requirements:_ high level of attention to detail, good written English, strong research and problem solving skills, professional experience in this topic area.

We are looking for volunteers based in the UK who can commit time two hours per week from Monday 20 February 2023 to Monday 19 June 2023.

All our meetings take place online on Zoom. Due to capacity and privacy, we do not record or rerun these meetings and appreciate your understanding.

Attendance is essential to stay up to date and involved. Volunteer Meeting Schedule:

- Mandatory Induction: All volunteers must attend this on Monday 20 February, 17:30-18:30
- Product Hub Team meetings: Each Monday fortnightly at 18:00-19:00 on 27 Feb, 13 March, 27 March, 10 April, 24 April, 8 May, 22 May, 5 June
- Socials (optional): All volunteers invited. Dates tbc and will include 16 June.

All roles are home-based and require motivated individuals who can schedule in and consistently offer two hours of assistance each week.

Remote-working: Access to a computer or laptop with camera and a stable internet connection is required.

**What You Get**

This is an unpaid volunteering position, however many of our volunteers find new roles or gain promotions while volunteering with us by:

- Gaining new skills, knowledge and experience to enhance your CV
- Progressing to more senior volunteering roles with us in the future
- Improving your confidence and social interaction by being part of a fun, friendly and supportive community
- We can also offer LinkedIn recommendations and references

Here are some of the things our volunteers have said about us:

- “It's been fun supporting a good cause, and I've got great career progress opportunities from my time at My Pickle too”_
