**Job summary**:
The Department for International Trade (DIT) secures UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment. DIT’s Export and UK Trade Directorate (DGET) is accountable for driving export growth, delivering jobs and prosperity across the United Kingdom.

The Global Entrepreneur Programme (GEP) sits within DGET and its primary role is to attract internationally mobile, high skilled migrant entrepreneurs and help them scale and internationalise their innovative, IP-rich companies from a UK global headquarters. GEP plays a key role in supporting HMG’s and DIT’s objectives for the UK to become a science and technology superpower as well as their levelling up and netzero ambitions.

GEP has achieved considerable success having attracted over 1300 founders and their innovative tech businesses to the UK, which have gone on to raise over $2.6bn investment. The programme’s success is mainly due to its innovative model of deploying a team of experienced entrepreneurs (the Dealmakers) whose expertise enables them to source world class entrepreneurial talent with the potential for rapid growth and innovation. GEP’s 25 dealmakers are based all across the UK as well as most regions of the world and there is a team of 10 DIT HQ staff.

The role of the Head of Entrepreneurship and (Global Entrepreneur Programme) is to provide key strategic, operational and management expertise to ensure the successful delivery of the Global Entrepreneur Programme. This includes:

- Ensuring GEP’s strategic and operational focus continues to support DIT’s objectives for UK to become a Science and Technology Superpower as well as its levelling up, and net zero ambitions.
- The successful delivery of GEP’s KPIs (FDI and Export targets).
- As DIT’s “Entrepreneurship Lead”, driving GEP’s/DIT’s entrepreneurship agenda XWH to augment GEP’s links and importance within DIT/Government.

**Job description**:
1. Leadership and management of:

- The GEP’s 25 dealmakers - part-time specialists who are successful entrepreneurs and investors - working alongside them to attract high potential migrant entrepreneurs and their innovative businesses to the UK and embedding them in the UK’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- The UK-based HQ team of 10 civil servants to ensure they provide efficient and effective programme-wide support.

2. Constant focus on performance and the programme’s delivery model to ensure appropriate delivery structure is in place in the right locations so we are best resourced to achieve agreed objectives.

3. Working with the dealmakers and HQ team to ensure GEP provides effective support to ensure founders and companies receive appropriate help to relocate their businesses to the UK; have access to potential investors, partners and customers; and connecting them to wider HMG, Devolved Administration and English regions’ support.

4. Resource and financial management to ensure resources are focussed on priorities and budgets are managed effectively, delivering value for money.

5. Develop and oversee GEP’s global business development strategy to support dealmakers’ pipeline generation and management activities.

6. Working with dealmakers and HQ team to ensure aftercare offer remains focused on upskilling founders and helping businesses scale and internationalise.

7. Ensure GEP continues to deliver an effective visa endorsement service for GEP’s internationally mobile entrepreneurs relocating their innovative businesses to the UK.

8. Integrating the GEP further into the wider Tech/Healthcare Life Sciences Team and other Sector Teams to ensure GEP’s expertise is utilised and valued across the board.

**Essential Criteria**
- Strong leadership skills and experience running large, diverse teams.
- A successful track record in strategic development and programme delivery.
- People person with excellent communication/presentation skills
- Financial and performance management.
- Ability to deliver at pace.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Knowledge and experience of FDI delivery for all types of businesses (in terms of size and sectors) would be useful given the diverse range of clients and business partners involved in these programmes.
- Knowledge of entrepreneurship including how companies scale, the funding landscape and how investors invest
