Courier Driver

We are looking for an Ad-Hoc Courier Driver working from our Shrewsbury Depot between the Shrewsbury and Telford areas on full time basis. This role will be driving vehicles from small Vans up to 3.5 tonne Luton vans, these can be driven on the category B part of the UK driving licence.
The main purpose of the courier driver role is to contribute to the safe and timely movement and transportation of goods and equipment.
The roles will require excellent communication skills with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to maintain the highest standards. Using electronic and paper-based forms of recording jobs and items delivered and collected, making sure that all courier jobs are carried out correctly and to scheduled times.
The current Ad-Hoc vacancy is primarily for an 8hr day shift pattern, Monday-Friday to cover annual Leave and sickness, but this will also extend to cover on any of our routes as required. Shift patterns will be discussed at the interview stage.
The role may involve heavy lifting/manual handling of equipment and goods, using a tail lift and loading, unloading & moving Roll cages.
**The Main responsibilities are**:
To carry out courier journeys to various locations and to agreed routes and timings.
To complete digital and manual documentation required by both legislation and organisational procedures.
To maintain regular contact with the operations office using a range of communication systems.
To ensure all items are always kept safe and secure.
To always comply with the Road Traffic Act while driving and other relevant legislation connected to the vehicle.
To act as customer contact at delivery points of service, and relay relevant information to the operations office
To complete vehicle checks prior to use, and to notify any defects to the Operations Office verbally and by recording on appropriate documentation.
To always act in a polite and courteous manner to customers and road users.
You MUST have held a Full UK Manual Driving Licence for a minimum of 12 months and have no more than 6 penalty points.

**Salary**: £10.47 / hr.
**Job Location**: Shrewsbury
**Shift Pattern**: variable but primarily 8 hour days, 8am to 4:30 pm (5 days) plus weekends as required.
**Required licence or certification**:
Driving Licence held for 12 months, with no more than 6 points.
You will be required to complete a DBS Check.
