Senior Scientist II - GC-MS
Your new company
Our client, a multinational CRO serving multiple sectors is looking to add a permanent Senior Scientist II to their established chemical analysis team.
The Berkshire-based company has cutting-edge facilities and has been recognised as a first-rate employer by multiple award bodies.
Your new role
You will be working independently, as a team leader, and as a direct point of contact with senior management and stake holders; providing your expertise regarding chemical analysis techniques -particularly gas chromatography/mass spectrometry
- to establish,organise and upskill project teams of junior scientists, and spearhead the proposal, organisation, management and execution of projects and strategies to meet business needs.
Responsibilities will include
- Using your substantial practical and theoretical knowledge of GC-MS (and related analytical processes) to establish scope, and develop approaches used in regard to new projects that fall under your team.
- Acting as a leader, managing the design and delivery of projects within your department as well as collaborating across departments and the wider company.
- Maintaining a hands-on approach towards more complex method/validation protocol development.
- Training of junior scientists and authorising competencies that are specific to your department.
- Upkeep of lab safety and hygiene standards, including the undertaking and approval of risk assessments.
- Adherence to regulatory standards when designing/developing methods, performing and designing validation protocols, and when writing, reviewing, and approving technical reports and SOPs.
- Analysing and interpreting data.
- Troubleshooting equipment and optimise workflow.
- Interacting and presenting to senior management and stakeholders.
As you become more settled in the role you will be expected to proactively develop your technical expertise and build upon your credibility with clients and internal teams.
What you'll need to succeed
A degree level qualification, PhD preferred, in analytical chemistry or related discipline with relevant industry experience.
- Experience and Soft Skills
- Experience working to regulatory standards (within a GLP/GMP environment).
- Team leadership/management experience.
- Stakeholder communication experience (including presenting project proposals).
- Method design and development experience.
- Experience designing, carrying out, and writing up validations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Staff training experience.
- Strong organisational skills, including time management, task prioritisation, and planning.
- Technical Skills
- Independently conduct chemical analysis (within the scope of your department).
- Strong knowledge of the practical and theoretical science behind chemical analysis methods.
- Expert knowledge of GC-MS/gas chromatography methods/methods of detection.
- Excellent knowledge of HPLC.
