Yard Assistant

**We are looking for a Yard Assistant for our expanding Builders Merchants in Woodgate, just outside Bognor Regis**

Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970’s.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

The Yard/Warehouse Assistant is one the most important roles within our branch network. You will undertake yard and warehouse duties to help promote and maximise sales, and will often be the first point of contact for customers visiting the branch.
- Support the organisation of the yard and deliveries, keeping the yard in good condition and maintaining a high level of Health and Safety throughout the branch
- Showcase stock knowledge and an enthusiasm to help the customer, processing all sales orders promptly to meet every customer's needs
- Support stock management of the branch, ensuring proper procedures are followed and ensuring that all goods are checked, enabling minimum stock shrinkage and accurate daily stock counts
- Help other drivers with their deliveries, loading and unloading stock

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Desirable**
- Forklift Licence

**Essential**
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and willingness to learn
- Happy to work outside predominantly, whatever the weather
- Customer-focused approach and the ability always put the customer first and provide great service
- Confident, outgoing personality.
- Positive attitude and desire to continually improve -everything else can be trained in this role
- Drivers Licence
