Your new School
Hays are recruiting a Full-Time Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in Monmouthshire working in a mainstream secondary school's special educational needs department. The school caters for pupils aged 11-18 and offers mainstream and ALN support.The role will involve supporting a 12-year-old student with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis in both the mainstream and SEN settings. The school is highly regarded and well respected. This is largely the result of their fantasticteaching team who are eager to expand their ranks and support any new additions. The school aims to help their pupils to become ambitious, informed, and prepared young individuals.
Your new role.
The role is confirmed long-term for an immediate start, working 5 days a week. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
- Working 1:1 with a 12-year-old Year 8 pupil with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
- Working in both the mainstream and SEN settings within the school.
- Working closely as part of a team with other members of teaching staff.
- Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
- Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all students.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working with children over the course of the last 2 - 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include patience, commitment, calmness,and the ability to problem solve effectively when working under pressure.
