General Haulage

TJK Haulage is a transport, logistics and freight forwarding company with offices based in Cornwall UK.

TJK employs a 30+ strong work force supplying excellent customer service utilising our ever expanding fleet. As we continue to develop our business, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and willing team member to head up our Transport Planning Department.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Planning of vehicles and drivers to maximise efficiency whilst delivering high customer satisfaction.
- Having the ability at building and maintaining relationships with customers, drivers and colleagues.
- Using the satellite vehicle tracking system, monitor vehicle locations in relation to customer delivery and collection times.
- Find and manage back loads to maximise fleet utilisation. Understand fleet capacity in terms of volume, weight and vehicle restrictions.
- Monitor UK traffic flow using travel websites and road cameras. Communicate potential issues to drivers to enable them to divert where possible.
- Proactively communicate with customers regarding any delays to booking times and waiting times at collection and delivery sites.
- Proactively communicate with drivers regarding changes to plan and additional customer requirements.
- Communicate planned work for drivers ensuring information is imparted accurately and completely.
- Communicate weekly record of driver hours to ensure ongoing compliance with the Working Time Directive.
- Prepare and issue driver delivery documentation and equipment, including maps and delivery instructions / requirements.
- Book in and check delivery points and acquire any information unique to delivery destination. Including arranging transhipping details or trailer drop places as required.
- Liaise with other departments to make vehicles available for inspection / service / repairs as required and maintenance schedule.
- Create jobs on Traffic Management System - deliveries / collections.

**SKILLs REQUIRED**
- Good UK road network and national geographic knowledge is essential.
- Good knowledge of EU driver regulations.
- Working as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work to strict timescales.
- Being self motivated and driven to succeed enabling growth to the business.
- Flexibility to working hours and weekend work.
- Good IT Skills, Excel/Word, Outlook.
- Minimum 3 years experience.
- National CPC is desirable but not essential.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
