We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Head of Governance and Company Secretary to join our team at our office in Sidcup.

This role is for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday and you’ll be based at our Sidcup office. We offer great opportunities to balance work and home through our hybrid working model that enables home working and flexibility of working hours too.

Our Board and Committee meetings usually take place outside of usual office hours so some evening working will be required. We want everyone that works for us to be at their best.

Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will ensure that Avenues maintains the highest standards of governance and will act as Company Secretary.

You’ll report to the Chief Executive Officer and will work with the Executive Management Team to develop and monitor the impact of strategy and will work in partnership with our highly skilled board of trustees providing governance advice and guidance.

Through leadership of a customer focussed team you’ll ensure full compliance with Data Protection legislation and that organisational policies and procedures are reviewed, revised and well embedded in our organisation.

You’ll oversee our annual risk process of internal audit, managing the audit process and ensuring appropriate management actions are recorded and carried out whilst taking the lead on the development of our risk management strategy and framework; developing and embedding an appropriate risk management culture across the organisation.

**The ideal Head of Governance and Company Secretary looks like this**
- A team player with experience in leading high performing teams.
- A strong knowledge and understanding of UK and European data protection and governance regulation.
- A background in advising and influencing leaders at all levels.
- Experience of working with Executive teams to develop, monitor and report on progress of strategy.
- Able to communicate with a range of stakeholders both orally and in writing including production of high quality reports.
- A self-starter who is flexible, agile to change and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Experience of managing risk at a strategic level including oversight of Internal Audit.
- Educated to degree level or qualified by significant and demonstrable experience and holds membership of the CGI (Chartered Governance Institute).
- Holds or is willing to work towards a recognised qualification in governance/risk management.
