**Costs Lawyer / Law Costs Draftsperson - Southampton**

A leading Legal 500 commercial practice are seeking to appoint a Law Costs Drafts-person to join their busy costs team in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to develop their career in costs, working in an experienced team.The role will be varied and will include work from our Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation and Property.

As a Costs Lawyer/Costs Draftsperson within the Legal Costs team, you will play a key role in the firms continued success; to achieve this you will deliver the following:

- Draft Bills of Costs, Costs Budgets and provide advice on all costs related issues.
- Have daily management of your own case load.
- Support senior fee earners with more complex cases.

**What we're looking for**
- At least 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Experience of drafting bills of costs, cost budgets and dealing with assessment proceedings
- Ability to deal with advocacy at Costs and Case Management Conferences and detailed assessment hearings
- Experience in dealing with legal aid and Court of Protection costs
- A genuine interest in developing a career within legal costs

Skills that you will require:

- You will possess at least 2 + years’ experience as a Costs Drafts-person
- Experience of dealing with all aspects of costs matters
- You will be degree educated and will boast ALCD (Law Costs Drafting Qualification) or will be at least working towards this
- Be experienced in running an active caseload ensuring that all deadlines, targets and KPI's are met
- Ability to draft Bill of Costs with mínimal supervision
- Ability to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills on a consistent basis
