Funeral Operative

Adam & Greenwood Funeral Home are an independent family owned Funeral Directors with offices in Chelmsford, Billericay, Maldon & Herongate, Essex. We pride ourselves on offering a caring, professional, compassionate service to all our bereaved families. We have a strong and dedicated team of Operatives which we are looking to grow.

The duties of a Funeral Operative will include/ but not limited to:

- Collection of the deceased into our care and/or hospital whilst driving our private ambulances, with respect and dignity. You will be included in the rota to facilitate out of hours callouts and must be in travelling distance to Chelmsford and/or Basildon.
- Cleaning, preparing and driving our fleet of funeral vehicles on funerals as well as acting as a pallbearer. You will take instruction from the Funeral Conductor on the day.
- Assisting the mortuary team with dressing and viewings of deceased within our chapel of rest.
- Readying and helping with car parking with our own Service Hall in Chelmsford.
- Preparing and dressing coffins ready for viewing or the day of the funeral.
- Handling and transporting confidential paperwork between offices and hospitals.

**All training will be provided in house but experience is always welcomed.**

The role is also physically demanding and you must be comfortable with heavy lifting.
- Be a great team player; working individually when the need arises as well as supporting and working as a team.
- Have excellent communication skills especially when talking with bereaved families, reassuring them and offering the correct advice.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
- Be able to show initiative and take instruction from line managers.

Full time hours: 40 per week

Salary will be discussed at interview.

**Experience**:

- Funeral Director: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (preferred)
