Roles at the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) can range from delivering education sessions in schools as part of the Violence Reduction Unit to supporting the Commissioner’s drive to provide support services to victims of crime. **The Role**

The ISVA Champion will be based in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner Commissioner and will be part of a team responsible for developing and implementing a transformational work programme to improve the lives of communities in Northumbria.

The post holder’s primary focus will be to ensure that sexual violence services across Northumbria are coordinated and provide victims with high quality care and support at the point of crisis and throughout any criminal justice proceedings. Championing the rights of victims and working with services and criminal justice partners to ensure that these rights are at the centre of service delivery will be a key focus.

The champion will need a good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and will work in partnership with a wide range of criminal justice partners collaborating to achieve common goals and transformational change around the approach to support for victims of crime.

**What do I need?**
- A relevant degree and at least 4 years’ experience of supporting victims of sexual offences, including support throughout the criminal justice system
- Understanding of recovery/disclosure policies and laws, and how they work in practice for sexual violence victim-survivors.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by sexual violence complainants with regards to the recovery/disclosure of their personal information.
- Experience of delivering training to internal and external stakeholders.
- Up to date knowledge of sexual violence policy and legal developments.
- Confidence in advocating for changes in policy and/or practice, for the benefit of victim-survivors of sexual violence.
- Experience of managing competing priorities and prioritising need.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to effectively engage with a range of individuals and groups in a multi-agency environment.
