**Head of QuEST**

We at **phs Group**, are looking for a capable leader who can ensure the health and safety of our employees and contractors, follow the environmental regulations, uphold the quality criteria and track and report the essential data on sustainability.

The right person for the role will be someone who **looks out for colleagues and team members** and **does the right thing not the easy thing**.

Someone who **works to continually improve** the QuEST strategy and plan in a way that will **directly benefit phs**. Has a keen interest to **maintain and develop** their own expertise, and the skills and knowledge of others.

**Key responsibilities of the role**:

- Lead manage and motivate the QuEST team
- Keep our people safe
- Ensure safe methods of working are in place at all phs sites
- National role, within reason the individual can live anywhere but must be prepared to travel
- Regularly review risk assessments and risk management plans to ensure compliance and continued improvement
- Manage accident and incident reporting
- Support internal and external auditing activity as required and where appropriate
- Drive the reporting of near misses and use the information to reduce accidents
- Ensure that the Company holds the permits it requires to do business
- Ensure all environmental regulations and legislation, including not limited to waste, are fully enforced across phs
- Establish a professional and productive relationship with the UK Environment Agency
- Ensure accurate sustainability data is submitted and reviewed as required
- Take the lead in maintaining and improving quality standards so the company maintains its accreditations (ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001)
- Review safety training for all roles
- Work closely with the Procurement Director and Head of Fleet to continually improve vehicle safety and safe driving behaviours
- Work effectively with the Managing Directors of phs Serkonten (Spain) and phs Ireland to ensure those businesses comply with national/regional legislation and regulation, as well as phs and Bidvest requirements

**Skills and Experience required for the role**:

- As a minimum, PIEMA and CMIOSH membership and hold at least one of the following qualifications. You will also need to complete all the following qualification in your first year
- 1-Certificate of technical competence HROC6 and 4a
- 2-TAQA training and assessment qualification
- 3-Level 3 training certificate
- 4-A lead auditor qualification in any one of ISO 9001, 14001 or 45001
- A sound understanding of environmental permit and waste management compliance
- The ability to attain a CIWM approved certificate of technical competence and attain the relevant qualification to become a lead assessor and verifier (TAQA level 4).
- A working knowledge of WEEE, Packaging and Batteries producer responsibility schemes and will manage the submissions and associated scheme memberships to ensure compliance
- The ability to analyse data and to submit meaningful reports
- Experience of ISO standards, preferably as a qualified lead auditor
