Salary: £20,812 to £21,968 pro rata

Hours: 22.5hrs per week

Contract: Seasonal until 15th September

We’re looking for a Marina Operative to join our Harbour services providing our vital service to residents & visitors throughout the season.

**Our Service**

Whitby Harbour offers maritime related services to the commercial, fishing and leisure sectors. Staffed by a 24/7 team, the harbour is responsible for both land and water areas of jurisdiction extending from circa. 2 nautical miles at sea to Ruswarp Weir. Within this jurisdiction, the harbours team deal with all matters including safety, traffic management, bridge operations, maintenance, security and emergency response whilst also taking an active role in the community.

The right person will have the opportunity to join us again for next season.

**The role**

As our Marine Operative, you will play a key role in promoting the harbour to both visiting and resident leisure vessels as well as other vessels operating within the marina.

You will be responsible for:

- Maintenance and safety checks on the marina,
- Taking payments and issuing security access fobs & electric tokens to owners as necessary,
- Undertake general marina maintenance including painting, minor repairs and ensuring cleanliness of the associated facilities and maintaining a safe working harbour environment
- Safely receive visiting leisure vessels and allocation of appropriate berths, collecting dues and dealing with general enquiries, providing appropriate advice.

**What will you bring**

We are looking for someone who knows the Whitby area, enjoys dealing with people and promoting what Whitby has to offer. Has experience in many kinds of manual labour and of safe working practices.

**Ideally, we are looking for someone who has boating experience and a little experience of boating, but this is not essential as full training will be provided.**
