**What is the role?**

Bury Council’s Children’s Commissioning team ensure the Council commission services meet the needs of children and young people and are providing value for money.

The Council are now looking to appoint a Children’s Commissioning Manager to take responsibility for commissioning of social care residential placements.

The focus of this role will be placements where a child or young person comes into care at the point of family breakdown or crisis.

**How will you do this?**
- Support the commissioning of jointly funded packages with health and adult social care, working with partners to ensure transitions into services is planned for any child in care.
- Have management oversight across all children’s services contracts, ensuring providers are meeting contractual requirements.
- Provide support to the Children’s Commissioning Team with the tendering of services and programmes for the wider Children’s department.

**What experience do you need?**
- Experience of commissioning residential placements, step down packages, and semi-independent living services.
- Strong knowledge of the social care provider market and ability to ensure bespoke packages of support can be developed where there’s urgent need.
- Insight into the commissioning cycle and procurement rules with a creative thinking approach when developing packages of care.
