This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team that will be designing the financial data collection for the Further Education sector from the ground up, after they were reclassified to central government. This will be one of the largest financial consolidations within the public sector. This role presents a rare opportunity to influence the end to end process around data collection and usage, enabling long term maintainability and value for money.

The role will require strong project and stakeholder management skills and will involve developing an understanding of the needs of the FE sector (over 200 colleges), negotiating on financial data and reporting requirements and implementing changes that will ensure long term viability of the processes among other needs.

Working in the Operational Finance directorate, and operating across financial reporting teams and directorate boundaries, this role will be integral to the project to ensure effective and efficient data collection and usage. The post holder will need to work very closely with data and digital experts in the department, making this a good fit for accountants looking to strengthen their experience in user focussed digital delivery.

**Job description**:
Leading on FE online financial form delivery, rolling out live forms to the sector, ensuring they are delivered on time, to a high standard with high collection rates. The forms will primarily collect year end data to go into the consolidated accounts, budgetary information to inform the Estimates process through Parliament, and Land and Buildings data to satisfy audit requirements.

**Initially the work will include**:

- Working in an agile project environment, design and implementation of online forms and delivered to timetable
- To liaise directly with the sector to obtain feedback and work closely with Colleges to ensure their needs are taken into consideration for the online forms
- Investigate the viability of automation with software suppliers
- Effective communications with the sector, including dial-ins, webinars, user research sessions and tutorials

**Longer term it will also include**:

- Manage timely responses to queries received from the sector on the completion of the online forms
- Provide detailed and strategic sector data as required
- Drive consistency and efficiency across all on-line forms, leading on technical consistency for the business

**Desirable skills and experience for this role**:

- Experience of financial data collection and/or consolidation and agile methodology.
- Product Management experience.
- Confident working with external sector stakeholders and/or external suppliers.
- Experience in building team capability and capacity, including providing quality. objective setting and performance management.
- Good Excel knowledge.

**Duties for this role**:

- Lead on online forms to design and build to high spec in collaboration with the technical colleagues, to ensure the forms are robust and necessary improvements are embedded to ensure a high standard of data quality and user experience.
