**JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Job Title**:Aquatics Coordinator

**Reports to**:General Manager

**Responsible for**:Aquatics Instructors

**Location**:Abbey Stadium

**Work Pattern**:25 hours per week

**Contract Status**:Permanent

**Annual Leave**:23 days (28 after 5 years)

**MAIN PURPOSE**

Reporting to the General Manager, the post holder will be accountable for the effective management and performance of the aquatics instruction programmes.

The primary driver for all roles within the company is to ensure that excellent customer service is being delivered at all times by:

- Developing our staff to deliver high quality customer focused services that meet customer needs and to encourage repeat business.
- Promoting continuous improvement in all that we do, keep abreast of industry trends and best practice and put the customer at the heart of all we do.
- Ensuring that our facilities are presented, staffed and maintained to the highest standard, implementing a performance focused culture that responds proactively to opportunities at an operational level.
- Developing an aquatics programme that meets the needs and expectations of the community.

We require the Aquatics Coordinator to be enthusiastic and energetic and support Rubicon Leisure in the delivery of the key priorities of the company to include:

- Delivering services to the highest possible standards

The post holder will be required to contribute to the wider aims of the Company, demonstrate a high level of independent working, inspire colleagues, be resilient, generate and inspire new and innovative ideas and ensure that the company is customer focused with high performing teams established to deliver services.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITY**

1. COMMUNICATION: Liaise with the General Manager to report and receive information on the development of swimming lessons

2. PROGRAMMING: Co-ordination of swimming lesson scheme in line with the guidance maximising commercial/participation growth

3. PRODUCT: To ensure swimming lessons are operated in accordance with the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway

4. QUALITY: To ensure that high levels of customer service are adopted at all times

5. WORKFORCE: To ensure all teachers are qualified and developed in line with the Rubicon Leisure swimming lesson guidance

6. PROMOTION: Raise awareness of swimming lessons internally and externally

KO 1 - COMMUNICATION

1. Attend and actively participate in Swimming Co-ordinator meetings

2. Prepare and present reports and statistical information as required by GM

3. Work with the GM to develop and implement Aquatics development plan for the venue

4. Identify and present commercial/participation growth opportunities to the GM

KO 2 - PROGRAMMING

1. Responsible for monitoring numbers and occupancy levels of the learn to swim programme ensuring the allocated pool space is optimised at all times

2. Continually review participation and occupancy levels, liaising with the General Manager on possible changes to Time Table and Programme to maximise commercial/participation growth opportunities

3. Implement changes through the software solution

4. Co-ordinate and communicate with Swimming Teachers and customers on any time table and programming amendments

5. To ensure adherence to the Rubicon Leisure Swimming Lesson Guidance.

KO 3 - PRODUCT

1. To have an understanding of the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway (SE LTS Pathway)

2. To ensure all systems, work practices, standards and administration processes connected with the SE LTS Pathway are maintained in accordance with the Swimming Lesson Guidance.

3. Create and maintain relationships with local aquatics clubs to ensure a smooth progression pathway is created in line with the guidance in the Swimming Lesson Guidance

4. Ensure that there are opportunities for students post Stage 7 to continue to participate in aquatic activities that are exciting and motivating (e.g. Octopush, Mini Polo, Aquatic Fitness opportunities - Bootcamp, aqua-jogging).

KO 4 - QUALITY

1. To ensure the lessons are covered at all times

2. To cover lessons if business critical and they hold the relevant qualification

3. To work evenings and weekends when required to ensure that all staff are communicated with during their hours of work

4. Ensure teachers are continuously assessing students and moving them when ready

5. Responsible for implementation of mechanisms (e.g. awards) to ensure that students stay within swimming as long as possible

6. Ensure that correct uniform is worn at all times

7. To maintain the safety and wellbeing of customers using the facility

8. Responsible for dealing with customer feedback in a timely manner

KO 5 - WORKFORCE

1. Ensure teachers are appropriately qualified to carry out their duties as detailed in Swimming Lesson Guidance.
