**High level overview of role**:
As a Part Qualified Actuary, you will be supporting a portfolio of client accounts, providing high quality actuarial and consulting services. You will work with clients in the public sector, in particular Administering Authorities to Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Funds and employers who participate in these funds. You will get exposure to a varied range of work that will allow you to grow and develop a career in areas that suit your own particular skills and interests.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Working as a client co-ordinator on nominated client accounts, ensuring that work is done on time, within budget, and with a high level of quality
- Preparing or checking of actuarial calculations, for example (but not limited to), funding valuations, accounting work and calculations in respect of employers joining or leaving LGPS funds.
- Preparing client communications, presentations and reports in a clear and understandable manner and attending meetings with clients
- Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with your clients, including developing an understanding of any wider LGPS issues and how these will impact on your client.
- Managing all aspects of the client account, including (but not limited to) monitoring of work in progress, liaison with the internal client services team and external client team and preparation of client invoices.
- Supporting the development of less experienced members of the business unit.
- Contributing to the delivery of work within a proposition team and support for the development of the proposition including identification of process improvements.
- People management (if appropriate) of less-experienced trainee actuaries
- Adhere to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies and procedures

**We are looking for the following personal characteristics**:

- First class interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
- First class organisational and communication abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting demands.
- Able to co-ordinate activity, and delegate effectively, amongst individual client teams and effectively manage upwards
- Driven and motivated to develop an actuarial career in either a client focused, proposition focussed or digital focussed role.
- Able to demonstrate a proactive approach in developing technical, consultancy and management skills.

**Qualifications & experience**:

- Making progress with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries examinations.
- Strong IT skills are essential, in particular an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Relevant pensions experience and an understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes, commensurate with the level of experience in pensions actuarial work
- A sound grounding in actuarial and computing techniques used in the valuation of pension benefits.
