Job purpose

Due to significant contract wins and the expansion of our core team, we have a number of vacancies for Trainee Structures Examiners to work across the UK with our current team. This vital role involves examination and inspection of railway assets including bridges, viaducts and retaining walls, ensuring that they are safe and in good condition for Network Rail’s passengers and freight.

You’re working location will be home based with travel across the region to specific sites. We plan to create 6 additional roles within the team.

Full training and mentoring will be provided and will include as standard:

- Railway safety critical training to COSS/SWL1 level
- STE4 Structures Examination Technical Qualification
- Confined space, PASMA and IPAF (cherry picker) operator training

Duties
- Carry out Structural examinations in accordance with company and industry standards
- Clear communication and production of reports
- Inform the Project management team of the status of each examination upon completion
- To work in a professional and safe manner, especially in a live working railway environment

Essential skills & requirements
- A proactive and safety conscious approach to work
- An eagerness to work within challenging environments, including confined spaces and working at height
- IT literacy and the ability to write technical reports (ideally with technical drawing skills)
- A good level of fitness and flexibility to work unsociable hours

Essential qualifications
- A full, clean manual driving licence

Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous rail or Civil Engineering knowledge or experience
