London, United Kingdom Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join the Hillingdon Community Paediatrics Team at the Child Development Centre (CDC). The CDC provides assessment for children where there are concerns that they are not developing in a typical way, and the service supports families and children with developmental delays and disorders, physical and learning disabilities, and social communication difficulties (e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder).

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

The post holder will primarily be involved in supporting the team with completing assessments of social communication difficulties (Autism Spectrum Disorder). This includes undertaking school observations, completing semi-structured interviews with school staff, direct assessment with young people, and post-diagnostic work for young people. The post holder will also have opportunities to undertake some individual therapeutic work with children, young people and families (with support and supervision from a Clinical Psychologist). The role involves some independent working, and working within a team (e.g. with paediatricians, speech and language therapists).

We are looking for capable and committed individuals who are aiming to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology. Applicants must be Psychology Graduates who have achieved at least a 2(i) Degree in Psychology or who have an additional qualification that ensures Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.

Existing training and experience in use of Autism assessment tools (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI-R) is desirable.

We strongly support continuing professional development, and there will be opportunities to attend internal training.

Although it is not necessary for the post holder to have access to a car, please note that this role involves a significant amount of travel to different schools within and around the Hillingdon borough.
