The role includes being responsible for managing the scheduling of services for the clients, reviewing the work of assistant accountants, preparing the tax computations and completing the service to high standards.

The position will be on the whole office based to be available to manage staff and clients but some home working and flexibility is possible.

Skills required include:
Taxation
- Highly competent in spotting tax saving opportunities for all types of clients, able to consider the tax planning by factoring in all aspects from the business to the individual but with due regard to commercial considerations
- Able to prepare and review basic to more complicated tax computations for Limited Companies, unincorporated businesses and individuals including a strong knowledge of capital allowances regime and non-allowable items
- Highly competent and experienced in preparing self-assessment tax returns for individuals
- Familiar with HMRC agent authorisation and checking the account of clients
- Experience dealing with appeals and liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients regarding their tax affairs
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of VAT
- Good knowledge of capital gains tax desirable
- Good knowledge of tax efficient investments including EIS and SEIS desirable
- Good understating of Benefits in Kind and P11D regime
- Excellent understanding of CIS regime required.

Accounting
- Highly competent in preparing accounts for Limited Companies including accurate disclosures and requirements of the FRS102 and FRS105.
- FreeAgent and Xero experience desirable.

Company secretarial
- Experience preparing dividend vouchers, confirmation statements and updating Companies House.
- Good knowledge of legal aspect of shares and company restructuring desirable

General
- Substantial recent small practice based experience (min 5+ years)
- Able to manage the job planning and manage staff workloads
- Experience working with a paperless system preferable
- Experience of document management systems, time recording systems and practice management systems preferable
- Experience with Iris preferable
- To be honest and reliable with high regard to client confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train and guide colleagues while accepting guidance, critical feedback or different points of view
- Exceptional attention to detail, and highly organised whilst working to tight deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously and be methodical
- Most importantly a team player

Full Time - Mon - Fri 37.5 hours 9am to 5pm

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience
