Locum Consultant in Otology

This is a Locum post fixed for 12 months with a minimum of 10 PAs. A final job plan will be agreed upon appointment, ensuring both individual and Trust / departmental objectives align. Job planning commences annually with the Clinical Lead and Directorate Manager, in September, to compliment the departmental business planning process and concludes in December, following sign-off by the CMO.

Proposed Job Plan

To some degree flexible to fit need needs of the service with an assumption that “normal” working will include:
1 day in theatre

1.5 clinics per week

0.5 day of admin

SOW on a rotating basis 1:12

On call 1 in 15

All of the above to be agreed at appointment

The ENT Consultant body functions extremely well together and works in partnership to deliver great patient care, excellent training and a strong research programme.

Clinics are run at the Townlands Memorial Hospital (Henley). Royal Berkshire Hospital, West Berkshire Community Hospital (Newbury),and Bracknell Health Space.We have a strong “virtual” clinic presence and the appointee would be expected to support this where possible.

This locum post is to join a well-established and ambitious department driving forward new models of patient care in the post COVID era. The job is based at Townlands Memorial Hospital in Henley with peripheral clinics in Reading, Henley or Newbury. The post requires general ENT skills and experience with a specialist interest in Otology to complement the existing consultants and needs of the department. We would also value experience in academic ENT research, education and service improvement to support and further the department’s ambitions and to expand its portfolio with the University of Reading.
