Job overview

We are looking for an experienced audiologist who has worked with children with complex needs to join our department. Are you looking to develop your leadership and clinical skills in audiology? Then this could be the role for you.

Main duties of the job

Whilst the successful applicant will be expected to work across both adult and children's clinics, the majority of time will be spent within the children's specialty. You will be expected to specialise within our service for children with tinnitus, hyperacusis, processing difficulties and functional losses. This will also be the focus of your service development skills.

Please see attached job description for the full details of the role. You will be expected to spend a minimum of 80% of your time in clinic and the rest of your time is taken up with service improvement, quality monitoring activities and line management duties.

Person specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- BSc Audiology or equivalent
- Registered with appropriate regulatory body
- Evidence of undertaking training in paediatric audiology

Desirable criteria
- MSc in Audiology or equivalent M level credits
- STP or HTS specialist modules
- Leadership qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
- Significant experience of routine audiology
- Experience in specialist assessment and rehabilitation
- Experience of leading service development and audit
- Experience of working with complex paediatric case loads
- Experience of training students/higher level trainees

Desirable criteria
- Experience of line management
- Experience of developing and implementing research proposals
- Evidence of managing children with tinnitus, hyperacusis, APD & functional losses
- Evidence of clinical examining experience
- Evidence of experience in recruitment

Communication

Essential criteria
- Experience of communication with carers in emotional states, e.g. delivering bad news
- Evidence of experience in teaching and giving feedback
- Evidence of presentation skills

Desirable criteria
- Practical leadership experience
- Evidence of delivering posters/presentations to a scientific audience

Analytical Skills

Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to make clinical decisions involving complex facts requiring interpretation of results, e.g. managing assessment of complex children

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
