**Job title**: Health and Safety Trainee**

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Roost Health and Safety Team on a full-time basis, as Health and Safety Trainee.

Hours: Monday Friday 09.00-17.30, though hours may vary due to circumstances.

**Salary**: £25,000 pa.

Based:Hybrid working, 2 days in HQ Birmingham and and the other 3 worked from any other location appropriate to your ability to carry out the role effectively

Here at Student Roost, we pride ourselves on offering an enhanced and safe experience for our residents and colleagues. As a Health and Safety Trainee you will be at the forefront of making this a reality for both residents and team members.

You will be part of a team supporting the whole business on matters relating to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing. You will learn the role of a Health and Safety advisor, whilst undergoing training and shadowing the team on a path to being a qualified Health and Safety practitioner.

- Top of your agenda at all times; practice an unrelenting approach to safety and welfare by adherence to any and all safety policies and processes in our organisation.
- Support in delivering an efficient and well-organised safety service within the team.
- Assist with data and project management and related communications.
- Provide safety support which enables the team to focus on delivery.
- Create ways of working to enable the team to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that the role is delivered in accordance with the Group Health and Safety Policy

**DO**

Principles:

- Support with the delivery of reports and data to support operations teams.
- Offer support to the team following accidents and incidents.
- Be efficient in managing queries received via the H&S Mailbox.
- Shadow internal and external stakeholders to learn the role and key challenges for the business.
- Manage and track actions arising out of external assessments and enforcement activity.
- Produce training material for end users.
- Visits sites to support and undertake audits, inspections, and assurance.
- Assist the team with specific projects including Health and Safety and Wellbeing initiatives.
- Travel across the UK to support and develop further understanding of the Health and Safety and Wellbeing aspect of the business.

- Look across the sector; keep up to date with significant changes in Health and Safety including resident experience and wellbeing.

**1 month** You will start to understand the culture and values of Student Roost. You will be getting to know the key aspects that face the team and how you would respond.

**3 months** You will have met and built strong high-quality relationships with our people, clients, and colleagues. Your knowledge of the sites and processes is well underway. You are familiar with the department process and comfortable with safety enquires

**6 months**Residents, colleagues and third parties now know you and are not hesitant to approach you with any enquiries. You will have started your qualifications route.

**12 months** - you will officially become a Health and Safety practitioner.
