Barista/Shift Supervisor

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Barista Manager to join our team at The Daily Grind in Watford. As the Barista, you will oversee all aspects of the café's operations, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, managing staff, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.

**Responsibilities**

1. Opening and Closing.

Responsible for opening the cafe in the morning, ensuring all equipment is operational, and setting up the café for the day. At the end of the day, oversee closing procedures, including cash handling, securing the premises, and cleaning tasks.

2. Preparing Drinks

Master all beverages on the coffee and food menu, including specialty coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, and other beverages. Ensure consistency in quality and presentation while accommodating customer preferences.

3. Preparing Food

We will be stocking a small range of pastries and sandwiches will be served hot/cold. You will need to know how each sandwich is prepared for the customer and adhere to all food safety conditions to make sure all food goes out the correct way. We will provide food safety training.

4. Customer Servic

Lead by example in providing friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service to all customers. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally.

5. Inventory Management

Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, ingredients, and supplies. Place orders as needed to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing waste and controlling costs.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the day, including coffee preparation areas, dining areas, and restrooms. Conduct thorough cleaning and sanitization tasks at the end of each shift to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

7. Quality Control

Conduct regular inspections of beverages and food items to ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards. Take corrective action as needed to address any issues or deficiencies.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Proven experience as a barista or café manager, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso machines, and other beverage equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a passion for creating memorable experiences.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively in a dynamic setting.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and willingness to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £10.50-£12.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
