Job Introduction
Joining our HROD team as our new OD and Learning Consultant will give you a unique opportunity to impact the working lives of more than 4,000 employees who provide vital services to the community.

East Sussex County Council has secured additional funding to support the ongoing work to maximise the recruitment and retention of staff across the Council, including building our new employer brand ‘We Choose East Sussex’. We are delivering a programme of work to develop our staff, promote career opportunities, and provide capacity for the future by forecasting future workforce gaps.

One of the objectives of the programme is to conduct a training needs analysis of the future workforce needs, and design OD and Learning initiatives to deliver the succession planning objectives across the Council. This role will work closely with a new Workforce Planning Officer which is also being recruited to co-ordinate workforce planning effectively across the organisation.

In this role you will take a lead in conducting a training needs analysis to identify future workforce skills gaps, you will also support the ongoing design, delivery and evaluation of flagship leadership development offers, and lead on the implementation of key projects within our People Strategy.

This programme of work will improve employees’ working lives by investing time and resources into their development and opening up progression opportunities. In doing so we will deliver effective and efficient services to the residents of East Sussex.

If you have experience of working in OD, conducting training needs analysis, or delivering leadership development we would like to hear from you.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to produce clear and concise information across a variety of formats that adhere to our values of inclusivity, dignity and respect for all audiences.
- Coaching skills and an ability to recognise opportunities for embedding coaching practice in all leadership development activities.
- Knowledge of how to conduct a training needs analysis to identify future workforce skills gaps.
- Experience of delivering OD and learning initiatives and driving change in collaboration with professionals across a large complex organisation.
- Ability to understand and interpret data to inform decision making and produce OD and learning recommendations that support succession planning.

Additional Information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
