Freightserve recruitment are looking for an experienced Customs person for a well established Freight Forwarder based in the Heathrow area.

Role Purpose:

- Maintaining awareness of any rules, regulations, policy, and guidance notes published by HMG bodies that are relevant to customs declarations.
- Assisting with preparing and presenting clear and concise compliance reports to the Board.
- Interacting with HMG bodies on compliance issues when required.
- Independently investigating and acting on matters related to compliance.
- Evaluating the efficiency of controls and continuously improving them
- Revising procedures, reports, etc on a periodic basis to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.

Main Duties:

- Ensuring that the policies laid down by the HMG bodies are strictly followed and adhered to by all employees submitting customs declarations.
- Identifying required changes to process/systems to incorporate changes of any rules, regulations, policy, and guidance notes published the HMG bodies that are relevant to customs declarations.
- Assisting with development of control process/systems in order to prevent violations of rules, regulations, policy, and guidance notes published the HMG bodies.
- Assisting with preparation for audits by HMG bodies and present the information required during the audit where required.
- Assisting with complete yearly internal audits of processes, documents, and practices of all branches.
- Issuing any Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) and monitoring through to completion.
- Helping resolve non-compliance issues/errors as/when requested.
- Assisting with maintaining any accreditations/authorisations obtained by the company.
- Providing training and technical support as requested by the Branch Managers.
- Introducing solutions for new business independently or with support of sales team where required.
- Working with Sales to communicate changes to rules, regulations, policy, and guidance notes as published by HMG bodies when required

- Good knowledge of GB, EU & 3rd Country customs regulations and procedures, international trade regulations and practices (e.g. INCOTERMS, VAT regulations)
- Understanding of logistics and transport procedures across different modalities (Air, Ocean, Road, Rail
