Working as a key member of CUH Arts, the Arts Assistant will manage the central administrative functions to support the day-to-day operational running of Cambridge University Hospital’s hospital arts programme. You will be the first port of call on all team enquiries, managing project databases, arranging venue bookings, liaising with freelance artists and tracking finances to ensure the smooth and successful running of our programme.

This is an exciting time for arts at CUH - alongside our thriving live and participatory strand of activities, CUH Arts is supporting plans for an ambitious programme of capital redevelopment on site which will see a significant transformation of facilities for patients and staff. It is CUH Arts' strategic mission to embed arts into the heart of healthcare, and arts has an important contribution to make in the day-to-day life of our hospitals.

Main duties of the job

You will provide on-the-ground supervision for a rich and varied live & participatory programme, including interactive workshops, public events, temporary exhibitions and patient environment projects to creatively engage, comfort and benefit the diverse hospital community. You will coordinate staff wellbeing activities, including the “Arts Pass” scheme.

You will also support the implementation of arts strategies and programmes on major capital projects, including the new Cambridge Children’s hospital and Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.

You will take a lead on the day-to-day care and conservation of the hospital’s permanent art collection, ensuring that artwork is properly maintained, catalogued and presented.
