Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We are looking for a
**Postdoctoral Neuroengineer** to be part of the Denison (Bioengineering) Group based at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit (MRC BNDU), University of Oxford. The Group has a strong track record in first-in-human tools for clinical neuroscience and therapy prototyping. The Group use transdisciplinary approaches to elucidate the substrates underlying activity dynamics in these brain circuits, employing innovative techniques to monitor and manipulate neural circuits and to determine their influence on disease symptoms. The proposed research will take full advantage of the intellectual environment, capital equipment, technical expertise and excellent infrastructure in place at the MRC BNDU.

The role involves research in the field of neuroengineering and neurotechnology. The appointee will design, execute, analyse and report on state-of-the-art technology-based experiments focused on systems for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disease, with a focus on chronic pain. This may include a range of technologies, spanning non-invasive technologies (such as virtual reality and neurostimulation) to invasive systems (deep brain stimulation). These experiments will be guided by a mechanistic understanding of cognitive and brain abnormalities, with the aim to design targeted therapeutics that potentially integrate multiple systems.

**This post is fixed term until 30th November 2025, with an initial probationary period, to start on or after 1st April 2023.**

**Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
