Through a blend of on-the-job experience and structured coursework, the Estée Lauder Companies data analytics apprenticeship provides an exceptional introductory opportunity to a career in prestige beauty and the growing field of data storytelling and analytics.

Reporting into either a National Accounts and Sales or Online team, with support from the wider brand or function, the role will be responsible for collecting, organising and study data to provide recommended actions based on the story the numbers are telling. The role will work across a variety of projects to provide measurable customer solutions and opportunities to a range of stakeholders.

Throughout the programme, the data analyst apprentice will be responsible for:

- Working within the Estée Lauder Companies’ data architecture to produce a series of reports and dashboards which will enable the team to make more informed decisions
- Identifying, collecting and migrating data to & from a range of internal and external systems
- manipulating and linking different data sets as required
- Collecting and compiling data from different sources
- Performing database queries across multiple tables to extract data for analysis
- Using a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data
- assist production of performance dashboards and reports
- assist with data quality checking and cleansing
- assist with the production of a range of ad-hoc and standard data analysis reports
- summarise and present the results of data analysis to a range of stakeholders making recommendations

the range of data protection and legal issues
- the data life cycle
- the different types of data, including open and public data, administrative data, and research data
- the differences between structured and unstructured data
- the fundamentals of data structures, database system design, implementation and maintenance
- the importance of the domain context for data analytics
- the quality issues that can arise with data and how to avoid and/or resolve these
- the importance of clearly defining customer requirements for data analysis
- the processes and tools used for data integration
- the steps involved in carrying out routine data analysis tasks

**Qualifications**

- An appreciation for the beauty industry
- Maths and English GCSEs at a C grade or above (or equivalent)
- Proven ability to balance the demands of working whilst studying
- A keen interest in future trends and the trajectory of the data science, technology and machine learning
- Logical and creative thinking skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and to take responsibility
- A curiosity towards what triggers and impacts consumer behaviour and spending
- An understanding of the importance of tracking and communicating numbers (likes, clicks, sales, engagement)
- An innate appreciation for varying customer viewpoints, cultures and interests
- Ability to work with a range of internal and external people
- Ability to communicate appropriately in a variety of situations
- Maintain productive, professional and secure working environment
