Apprentice Carpenter

Andover, United Kingdom Aster Group Full time

Have you been considering a trade career? We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals to complete a Carpentry apprenticeship with our teams in Somerset and Hampshire.

You’ll consider yourself to have a ‘can do’ approach, you’ll enjoy problem solving and you’ll be happy to start building towards your portfolio from the beginning of your apprenticeship.

We’ll be supporting you to work towards a Level 2 apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery, which will hopefully lead to a very successful career. The apprenticeship will take approximately 24 months to complete.

During the week you’ll work with your team out and about in the community in customer’s homes and sometimes empty properties to complete carpentry based tasks. Initially you will work with your mentor to learn the carpentry skills required for the role, whilst completing technical learning with our training provider and as you become more confident you’ll be completing tasks yourself.

From the beginning of your apprenticeship you will be responsible for completing all works related to the qualification, this is key to ensure you remain on track. You’ll be taking pictures of work you have completed to build your portfolio and you’ll accurately record your ‘off the job training’ to ensure that the records are up to date.

**About you**

You’ll be excited about becoming an apprentice and you’ll want to really work hard for it.

You will need to have passes in Maths and English GCSE already and you’ll be happy to work towards gaining your driving licence during your apprenticeship if you don’t have it already.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t attended college to complete any trade studies as yet as we’ll work with our training provider to ensure you receive all the training you need.

**What’s in it for me**

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

- A focus on colleague wellbeing - workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, mental health training and a health cash plan
- We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
- Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
- Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
- Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
- Enhanced leave
- We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised recognition initiatives, and monthly and annual awards.
