Farnham, United Kingdom University for the Creative Arts Full time

The CSC is an accredited university museum and has been supported by a recurrent grant under the Higher Education Museums and Galleries fund. Its origins lie in significant individuals and communities of British craft makers and the global links that inspired them. It has world-leading collections of the work of important craft makers including Bernard Leach, Peter Collingwood, Barron and Larcher and Lucie Rie, and these collections of objects are supported by important maker archives. The collections and archives make the CSC a vital resource for researching, studying or practicing craft.

The CSC and its collections and archives are owned by a charitable incorporated organisation managed by a Board of Trustees. It is also a research centre of the University for the Creative Arts; the staff of the centre are employed by the University and the centre is housed in a dedicated building on the University’s Farnham campus. The CSC has two permanent galleries and a research room and is an important public interface between UCA and its communities. Farnham is a designated Crafts Town and is recognised by the World Crafts Council as England’s only ‘World Crafts City’. The CSC is part of a local network of crafts institutions, as well as having research links nationally and internationally.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to work with us during an important period at the CSC as we are develop our longer term vision to broaden accessibility to our collections, better secure the collections for future use and expand the breadth and impact of the collections with an explicit emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusivity. The CSC is advancing a new strategy to cement its importance as a nationally important research centre for craft history and craft practice, working with partners, local and national to develop major funding bids and produce significant outputs of significance - from exhibitions, loans from our collections, and publications. The Curator of Collections will play an integral role in supporting the operation of the Centre during this exciting period.

Please note the pro-rated salary is: £37,579 to £43,516
