**About the Role**

Trafford’s Trading Standards Team have a new vacancy for a Team Leader to join the Department and lead a team of Trading Standards Officers.

The primary role of the Trading Standards Team is to carry out a range of regulatory and enforcement functions in the areas of product safety, consumer protection, fair trading, metrology, underage sales and animal feedstuffs.

The Trading Standards Team are crucial to the Council meeting its statutory requirements in the above areas and the team provide specialist knowledge and advice in these topics. The work undertaken by the team directly contributes to the Council’s corporate priority of reducing health inequalities.

This role offers the flexibility of hot desking/home working together with field-based work.

**About you**

You will have:

- A degree or diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent recognised qualification (to include metrology.)
- Substantial specialist knowledge and relevant work experience within a trading standards environment; be fully conversant with trading standards legislation and be confident and self-motivated, with the ability to lead, support, or direct a team.
- The ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload and deliver to tight deadlines, with a passion and pride in your work.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
