Trainee Estimator

The role of a Trainee/Assistant Estimator would be to work alongside the estimating team to obtain understanding and knowledge of how estimates are prepared, documentation that forms a tender enquiry, how projects costs are built through to final tender submission. This role will be based in our Carnforth office.
**Responsibilities**:
- Gain a full understanding of the tender process and tender documentation.
- Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers - Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
- Create detailed take-offs and quantity surveys
- Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related documentation
**Skills**:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills - Excellent attention to detail
- A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy - Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Problem-solving abilities to identify solutions for cost control
- Willingness to learn and an enthusiasm to develop and progress

**Education**:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
**Experience**:
- surveying: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
