**INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ABERDEEN - FRONT DESK/ SECURITY - WEEKENDS**
- **Throughout working hours, all those with Security responsibilities must**:

- Monitor and authorise entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain the security of premises. Welcome and greet people coming into the school.
- Ensure that people (including ISA staff) sign in/out if required and take relevant badges.
- Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information.
- Keeping the area presentable, safe and hygienic.
- Check there are no unauthorised people within the grounds
- Respond to fire alarms, intruder alarms and pool alarms.
- Investigate disturbances, taking personal safety into account.
- Provide first aid assistance in the event of injury or sudden illness.
- Carry mobile phone and walkie-talkie at all times
- Observe CCTV screens and ensure CCTV is in operational use.
- Wear a security uniform and carry walkie talkies.
- **In the event the fire alarm rings**:

- Determine from the fire panel where the issue is. Only cancel the emergency services if completely sure that it is a false alarm (e.g. broken call glass in the area showing on the fire panel). If in any doubt, allow the emergency services to attend.
- Carry out a quick patrol of the nearby areas in use
- Do not open doors without checking carefully for signs of smoke and heat first.
- Check that all is under control in the swimming pool.
- Make way to muster point, ask group leaders to account for all those in their group. Where possible, check that all those signed in are accounted for.
- Liaise with emergency services, updating them with all available information including anyone not accounted for.
- **In the event that an ambulance or fire service is called to the school, the Security Guard on duty will be responsible for**:

- If available, ask a member of staff to go to the bottom of the drive to guide the ambulance or fire crew into the driveway.
- Directing the ambulance to stop at the appropriate place (e.g. front of the manor house, playing field)
- Escorting the ambulance crew to the injured party.
- **At the start and end of the day, the guard must carry out a patrol around the outside of the building to check**:

- ALL external doors are shut and locked and secure.
- All sheds, gates and out buildings are locked.
- All windows are closed and if found open, ensure they get closed.
- During winter months, check pathways and steps at the front of the school are not icy. If they are and could cause a slip hazard, scatter salt.
- At the end of the shift, or after the event has finished the area is to be locked down. Including the Astroturf gates are to be locked.
- **At the start and end of the day, the guard must carry out a patrol around the inside of the building to check**:

- All internal doors and locked, including magnets on specific corridor doors.
- There are no unauthorised people within the building.
- Unnecessary lights are off.
- For problems such as signs of leaks in areas where leaks have previously occurred.
- Laminators are switched off.
- No fire escapes are blocked or obstructed; no fire doors are jammed open.

If required the doors at reception may be locked on the magnet to avoid unauthorised access. Mobile phone number may be displayed on the doors so that those requiring access can alert the guard during the patrol.

Start Date: To be agreed.

Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8am - 4pm (various shifts available)

Salary will be dependent on experience.

This position requires a PVG check and written references.
