Since 1848 the College has been based in the historic buildings at 8 - 13 Queen Street. Following a recent £3.5m investment we are in an exciting phase of the College’s development with the aspiration to become the Venue of Choice in Edinburgh.

**The Role**

College Officers play a key role as part of the Venue Team of the College.

They have a range of duties that bring them into direct contact on a daily basis with staff, Fellows and Members of the College and guests to the College attending both internal and external, commercial events.

In support of events, duties performed include setting up rooms and equipment and meeting the on-site needs of clients both during and outside of office hours. College Officers also ensure the safety and security of staff and the public are maintained whilst using the building. This will include completing appropriate security checks, supporting the emergency response team as a first aider and responding to fire alarms.

College Officers are also responsible for opening and closing the building and act as emergency key holders in the event of security or safety issues out of hours for which there is a remuneration payment.

Other duties include providing support to the Buildings Officer by addressing any building issues or overseeing maintenance out of hours, assisting the fire officer in all aspects of fire prevention, policy and training and supporting College ceremonial events.

**The Person**

You will possess good organisational skills and be self-motivated, have general maintenance skills and a good standard of physical fitness to cope with the manual handling part of the role. Customer facing experience will be an advantage.

**Hours of Work**

The standard working week for the post holder will be 28 hours worked flexibly between 7amto 10pm over 7 days with an emphasis on weekend working.

**Remuneration**

The core salary for this role will be £21,721 pro rata per annum plus benefits. Additional benefits include:

- Holidays: 23 days annual leave pro rata (with incremental increase over five years to 28 days) and 11 days public holiday/College close downs.

This is a part-time, permanent role based on-site 100% of the time at the College in Queen Street, Edinburgh.
