**Work type**: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join us to drive our portfolio of commercial projects, developing new income streams and delivering large infrastructure projects, as part of our growth ambitions linked to our 10-year strategy for a Thriving Yorkshire, Right for Customers and Right for the Environment.

**What we do**:
We deliver critical services to 5.5 million people and over 140,000 business in Yorkshire and Humberside. Every day over 2 million homes across the region receive over 1 billion litres of drinking water, delivered, collected, and recycled through 50,000 miles of pipework. Protecting public health and the environment is at the heart of what we do. To do this we rely on a complex network of infrastructure assets with high availability targets and a significant capital investment programme to improve asset health. We play a crucial role in ensuring Yorkshire Thrives, working with partners across the region.

We are about to embark on our largest ever investment programme totalling nearly £8bn over the period from 2025 to 2030, delivering more for our customers and for the environment. As we seek to add more value to customers, we want to leverage our embedded value and capabilities and those of our supply chain and partners to develop new commercial value stream built around a portfolio of projects. Bringing innovative thinking, different commercial and business models, together with new partnering and financing structures to help support our growth. We are looking for a Head of Commercial Projects to lead this for us.

**Where you fit in**:
You will lead the growth in our portfolio of commercial projects across Yorkshire Water and Kelda Group, expanding our non-regulated income activity into markets adjacent to our regulated water business, establishing our new Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) programme (a £500m investment programme over the next five years), and growing our power generation programme to hit our goal of at least 40% self-generation by the end of the decade.

You will gain significant Board and Executive Team exposure, working closely with the Group CFO, to:

- Lead the DPC strategy for Yorkshire Water, including delivery of the specific projects identified in our PR24 business plan.
- Lead the energy self-generation strategy, supporting the operational business areas in our goals to grow self-generation through exploring different commercial and funding models.
- Identify opportunities where innovative thinking and commercial structures can add value to Yorkshire Water. Examples include logistics and spare part provisioning, smart metering.
- Develop and lead a team of people focused on developing and delivering commercial projects.
- Develop third party partnerships.
- Establish venture funding solutions.
- Working the business, identify options to accelerate the deploying of Yorkshire Water’s innovation activity and funding.

**What skills & qualifications will you need**:

- Demonstrated ability to take projects from inception to implementation and delivery.
- Experience of negotiating and implementing project financing structures, joint venture, PFI or similar complex commercial arrangements
- Exposure to complex asset-based business models where availability is a key value driver
- Strong leadership and influencing skill, being able to put together compelling business proposition and turn them into reality.
- Excellent communicator with an ability to create long term relationships experienced through supply chain or other similar partnering environment.
- Ability to work across a matrix organisation, with proven ability to build a credible team around them.

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup for this position typically requires an average of 3 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
