Objective of the role:
Manage the processing and despatching of flammable solid and low hazardous flam solid waste via trans frontier shipment (TFS) from site.

Main Duties:

- Manage all the duties of TFS operatives. Carry out training at regular intervals and record this. - Increase productivity in the department by maximising outgoing TFS vehicle weights and movements from site.
- Completion of all paperwork relating to trans frontier shipment of waste.
- Ensure all waste is processed and despatched in a safe compliant manner.
- Ensure the completion of pre-use FLT checks by TFS operative.
- Ensure waste is being appropriately stored in line with Sector Guidance Note 5.06, the sites Environmental Permit and to HSG51.
- Arrange for the maintenance and servicing of equipment in area of responsibility.
- Liaise with operations manager / relevant others in the writing and review of Risk Assessments, Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Deal with all absenteeism and disciplinary issues as per company guidelines.
- Completion of low-risk maintenance activities so far as reasonably practicable and safe to do so.
- Review of major maintenance works required including sourcing suppliers, management of production impacts during works and management of contractors on site.
- Ensure high housekeeping standards in operational area.
- Ensure the Permit to Work system is being followed with area of responsibility.
- Promote a positive Health and Safety driven environment - reporting near misses on Activ and rectifying any potential concerns for Health and Safety readily.
- Actively promote a right first-time culture in the department.

People Management:

- Lead, develop and strengthen the TFS team.
- Maximise the performance of individuals through thorough communication; motivation and development on a day to day basis, as well as coordinating regular performance reviews to enhance performance and set clear objectives for achievement.
- Manage performance and capability issues taking an informal consultative and coaching approach initially, referring to a formal process if no improvement has been made.
- Be an advocate of all Company policies, ensuring you are fully aware of your own responsibilities within key policies and communicating relevant policies to colleagues when requested.
- Champion the onboarding process when required, using RED material and information and working with the HR and Training team to ensure low staff turnover.
- Develop employees through on the job challenges / training, feedback and coaching, formal training courses.
- Maintain and keep up to date basic personnel and training records of each colleague on site.

Generic Duties:

- Additional duties as requested by senior management in line with the capabilities of the role holder.
- Support and contribute to Red Industries Group overall objectives and aims, in line with the role holders experience, and competence.
- Support and contribute to all aspects of “good” safety and health, daily awareness of safety issues and well being awareness.
- Fully responsible for your own and others’ health and safety.
- Ensure all incidents, observations and concerns are reported through an escalation process; solutions are identified and actions, in line with Company policy.
- Ensure ideas for the improvement of safety are listened to and acted upon, involving the Health and Safety representatives and HR Management if necessary.
- Ensure non RED employees (visitors, third parties and contractors) confirm to the Health and Safety Policy including using the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Raise a Corrective Action Report for any concern or improvement opportunity.
- Compliance with all energy saving activities such as switching off lights and other equipment when not in use; switching photocopiers to standby mode, setting the thermostat at right setting; closing windows/doors when heating is on; when using, kettles fill up to what is required; and using hot water economically.
- Compliance with water saving activities such as: turning off taps properly and reporting dripping taps and water leaks to Supervisor or Manager.
- Compliance with our reduction in pollution activities, where possible reducing usage, and reusing or recycling waste; and handling all chemicals as per COSHH sheets; complying with safety rules in relation to minor spills (eg. soak up and report to manager) and major spills (eg. immediately report to a manager).
- Compliance with emissions goals when driving company vehicles or otherwise driving on company business, do so in an economical manner i.e. choosing the shortest rout
