Cardiff, United Kingdom Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Full time

We have an exciting opportunity for a psychological therapies assistant to work within the Service for High-risk Eating Disorders (SHED) for Cardiff and the Vale UHB and Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB. The SHED multi-disciplinary team provides a clinical service across both of these areas, with your main office base being in Cardiff. The SHED team provides community-based and hospital in-reach services to people who are experiencing eating disorders of high severity and which are posing high risks to the individuals' health and well being.

The post holder will work within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, providing:
1) psychological interventions

2) home-based and community-based support during and after mealtimes to individuals and groups with severe eating disorders.

These psychological interventions comprise evidence-based interventions developed from psychological theory and practice i.e. standardised psychological therapies delivered to protocol and in line with NICE and Matrics Cymru guidelines for eating disorders (2017). The therapies are aimed at individuals with severe eating disorders with significant complexity and effect on functioning and usually last up to 6 sessions or longer for group work or individual interventions. Some therapy will be delivered individually, but there may also be structured groups such as motivation-based contemplation therapy or compassion-focused therapy.

Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate multi-disciplinary working arrangements are in place to maintain effective care. Receive referrals, adhering to referral protocols, organising assessment and signposting to appropriate services. Provide a range of information and support for evidence-based, psychological treatments. Provide evidence-based, low intensity psychological interventions, including group work and individual therapies. The post-holder will develop group protocols under supervision, prepare materials, collate, analyse and report outcomes. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
