About the Role

Our response teams are responsible for preventing, investigating, and resolving all customer related issues. Our vision is to deliver our service effectively and efficiently whilst ensuring we deliver the best service to customers with minimum disruption in the safest manner.

You will be responsible for carrying out single person choke clearing activities, high pressure choke clearing and a variety of other tasks. Dealing with customer facing related issues on a day-to-day basis. The focus of the role will be to ensure the resolution of customer issues and the recovery of any reputational impact our operations have on customers. This role is primarily field based and contains an element of lone working. Full training and protection will be provided to enable you to carry out the role.

As an Operative, you will be responsible for the execution of site work ensuring maintenance, repair, and installation of networks is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. You will make sure that all work complies with the relevant H&S safety process and work practices to eliminate or minimise risks to health, safety and welfare of themselves, other employees and general public who come in contact with their site works.

In addition you will carry out site specific risk assessments, carry out relevant vehicle and plant checks before use and ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources including labour, plant and material.

Essential/Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours

In this role it is essential that you can listen, empathise and assist customers to help best resolve the problems reported and recover any issues with the potential for reputational impact. You will be confident, personable and have excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills. In addition, you will be capable of managing complex situations, work effectively as part of a team and have proficient IT skills.

Additionally, you will communicate with internal and external customers regarding work being carried out on site. Giving progress reports where necessary and always ensuring our customers get excellent service.

Essential:

- Strong problem-solving skills and a dedication to find a solution to any issues that arise within the site.
- Experience or an understanding of working within a strong Health & Safety culture to ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Be a quick learner, with the ability to use new computer systems and on-line learning modules which are essential to the role.
- Be a strong team player, who can work well with others to achieve common goals.
- The ability to plan and prioritise your work, whilst maintaining flexibility to accommodate changing priorities.
- It is essential that you have a full current driving licence, have NRSWA, DOMS, and HCOP to operator level and are experienced in all aspects of repair and maintenance activities on a water network

Desirable:

- Represent Scottish Water acting as first point of contact for all customer enquiries, ensuring that top class customer service is given at all times
- Use of all modern leak detection equipment to support rapid response to help deliver repairs within 48 hours.
- Comply with Scottish Water health & safety policies and with statutory obligations
- Knowledge of DOMS policies and procedures with an understanding of the hygiene code of practice.

This role is being advertised on a full time contract basis where you will work up to 37 hours per week, 5 days a week within core hours 07:00 to 19:00 including weekend working.

Salary Range - £21,053.00 - £28,425.00 (Depending on skills & experience)
