Consultant Gastroenterologist

The Trust is seeking to appoint 2 permanent Consultant Gastroenterologists to work with the existing fourteen Gastroenterologists. Although predominantly based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester an element of cross site working is expected, including supporting our Community Diagnostic Centre in Andover War Memorial Hospital.

The current fourteen consultants provide sub speciality interests in upper and lower therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, nutrition, pancreatobilary and motility/functional disease. Existing services include bowel cancer screening, ERCP and spyglass, endoscopic ultrasound, advanced GI physiology and capsule endoscopy.

The successful appointee would be encouraged to develop and lead subspecialty interests. The post holder will be involved with in-patient gastroenterology and GIM and participate in approximately 1:6 acute GI bleed on call.

There is a GIM commitment currently entailing a 1:34 on call for the acute medical unit.
