Our aim as a housing supported service is to provide our service to those in need of help who have fallen through difficult times and as a result become homeless.

We aid and work along side to provide goal orientated weekly support sessions to help reach their overall individualised long terms goals.

The positive outcome we would like for our tenants with our service is to become as independent as possible, learn new skills and develop on existing skills and in preventing a re occurring cycle of homelessness. With the long term goal of being able to move onto social housing and have their own place one day.

Job description:
K&M Housing are recruiting for a housing support worker to join our existing team of staff applicants and must be able to do the following:
Providing Support:

- working along side with our tenants in accordance to their Individualised support plans
- creating and reviewing support plans for all our users/tenants.
- identifying, recommending and referring to relevant support services such as CGL, Step2Change, Gambling Awareness, Birmingham Healthy Minds etc.
- maintaining and developing professional relationships with our tenants
- being able to problem solve
- supporting service users to maintain their tenancy agreement rules and maintain accommodation

Risk assess tenants:

- To be able to use the risk assessment guidance and identify the risks associated to the tenants that are using our service
- being able to score tenants risks appropriately according to the guidance and scoring sheet
- Be able to identify and use initiative to see if tenant is suitable to live with others in the property in order to avoid future conflict or health and safety concerns.
- Be able to use own initiative to score tenants based on information provided as tenants can overestimate or underestimate their score

Management of properties:

- Ensuring the property is up to a high standard of living for the tenants
- Being able to assist and advise tenants surrounding cleaning within the properties to ensure standards of hygiene are up to a good and manageable condition
- Ensuring properties visited are secure and locked by checking the keys, locks and doors to follow the guidelines surrounding health and safety and welfare of tenants
- Being able to identify, feedback and report any maintenance work/ health and safety checks that need to be done in properties visited in order to meet high standards of safety
- Understanding and following policies and procedures to keep both yourself and the tenants safe
- being able to collect service charges from the tenants and handling cash
- ensuring that new tenants are provided with all relevant items and rooms are of good standards. Also ensuring that rooms are ready & clean for new clients when clients move on
- Making sure new tenants are allocated to rooms with good standards of cleanliness and are provided with the necessary basics such as keys, items and a quick tour of the property upon arriving if asked

Skill Set:

- being able to communicate effectively through professional body language and verbal skills
- Have knowledge of using computer softwares such as Microsoft word and Microsoft excel.
- have good reading and writing skills
- being able to work efficiently under pressure
- having exceptional organisation skills
- being reliable and trustworthy
- being able to effectively manage time
- Be able to plan and prioritise workload to suit both yourself and the tenants

Required work experience:
Need one years experience working in supported accommodations as a housing support worker

**Requirements**:
Full driving licence and vehicle are necessary
DBS check

**Salary**: From £10.42 per hour

- 8 hour shift

COVID-19 considerations:
When visiting tenants in and out of properties good hand washing practice, wearing a mask when necessary, hand sanitiser to be used and to follow up to date covid guidelines
