We are now looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Dayshift & Nightshift Care Workers for our Northcare Residences Care Home, located in Stirling. At Northcare, you are more than a care worker. **Key Responsibilities**

1. Leading by example, will promote within the team a service that offers continuity of care and a culture that ensures residents’ physical, social, cultural and spiritual needs are met

2. Work within the Health and Social Care standards

3. Promote care that is based around the health and social care standards and take responsibility for ensuring all staff are aware of the principles that underpin the standards and how they relate to care provided to residents

4. Practice within the framework established in the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers SSSC

5. Promote compliance with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene legislation at all times.

6. Assist Registered Nurses with the clinical care of residents.

7. Deliver personal, spiritual, social and end of life care to residents.

8. Under the guidance of the Registered/ Nurses, contribute to the operation of the unit in a cost effective and efficient manner.

9. Allocate work-load to Nursing Care Assistants. Promote and act as role model for best practice at all times.

10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation, for example care plans risk assessments and monitoring tools.

11. Act in accordance with Northcare (Scotland) ltd policies and procedures at all times.

12. Spot, record and refer changes in residents’ health and well-being and report any significant changes to Registered nurse

13. Conduct risk assessments and report high risk areas to Registered Nurse

14. Refer all clinical decisions to Registered Nurses including referring residents for Physiotherapy ,SALT ,dietician

15. Coordinate and ensure the effective delivery of key-worker roles amongst Care Assistants.

16. Undertake a leadership role for key-worker activities

17. Promote good nutrition and hydration for all residents and monitor meal time experience taking note of any dietary or fluid intake concerns and act accordingly

18. Audit the General care and maintenance of equipment and wheelchairs - reporting issues through the correct channels.

19. Ensure well-stocked stores, ordering and receiving as appropriate.

20. With guidance of registered nurse maintain appropriate records of medication and ensure ordering ,returning and accepting stocks is carried out in a way that is within the Northcare's policies and procedures adheres to best practice

21. Help to embed a culture of meaningful social activities for residents. Encourage, facilitate and devise social and spiritual activities for residents to take part in

22. Oversee and support the keyworkers role in settling in new residents

23. Build relationships with family and friends. Involve family/friends in activities and ensuring they remain a large part of residents’ day to day lives.

24. Deal diplomatically and sensitively with residents who are displaying distressed behaviour and in conjunction with registered nurse/manager develop strategy to minimise the distress of residents and ensure that plan is communicated to all staff

25. Step in to relieve other team members when necessary.

26. Supporting residents through recovery of illnesses, conditions or injuries (such as a stroke or fractures) - encouraging rehabilitation

27. Give emotional support to residents, their families and friends when necessary.

28. At all times promote and ensure a high standard of care and uphold the reputation of Northcare Scotland ltd
