Clinical / Service Specific To undertake protocol-based psychological assessments of service users with psychological measures, neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the service users care and support. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans to service users involving risk management and/or psychological treatment, support and/or management of difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in a variety of settings. To recognise the skills and expertise of other Team members and work with them o assess and treat service users. To recognise and take into account the impact of service users histories and backgrounds and the possible impact of ethnic, sexual orientation, gender, faith, communication needs and other characteristics and conditions on their psychological functioning and support needs.

To work with other team members to assess service users and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews. To assist in the development of a psychologically-based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users, regardless of where care takes place. To attend and contribute to appropriate Team meetings and other multi-disciplinary meetings. To have an understanding of legislation and policy relating to health and social care that is relevant to the service users and professional practice.

To work in service users homes and other community settings where conditions may pose a risk, including lone working. To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups, where appropriate. To be responsible for effective management of personal resources. To liaise and communicate effectively and sensitively with professionals in other Teams, in CPFT (mental health services, older peoples teams, childrens services), other NHS services (acute hospitals, maternity services), and other organisations (such as substance misuse, palliative care), providing specialist LD advice as necessary.
