**Role Overview**

Hitachi Europe Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Finance Placement on a 12-month fixed-term placement contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on real responsibility within a supportive and encouraging business environment, that will provide you with a great foundation for your future career. You will also gain further exposure to the wider Finance teams.

**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**

As part of our commitment to your development, we will be offering a varied and challenging 12-month undergraduate placement. It is a ‘hands-on’ role and you will gain wide-ranging finance exposure.

Specifically, you will assist in these areas:
**Accounting**:

- Monthly internal financial results, close process and month end process including balance sheet reconciliation.
- Quarterly consolidated financial reporting to parent company.
- JSOX annual certification of effectiveness of financial reporting controls and statutory financial statements.
- Assist with managing an assigned business group (limited complexity) or shared service customer.

Providing analysis to the finance team to assess actual performance versus forecast and preparing reporting schedules in collaboration with the Financial Planning & Analysis team, Finance team, Manager and Director.

**Commercial Finance**:

- Assist with reporting requirements.
- Preparing quarterly and annual forecasts.
- Analysing variations against expected results.
- Supporting finance and business teams with insights on key input & output performance indicators.
- You will learn how Finance supports the various business teams in forecasting and analysing actual financial results.

**Finance System**:

- Support the implementation of a new SAP system, S4Hana

**Others**:

- Assist in any project implementations.
- Be responsible for the updating current SOP by capturing and documenting processes and procedures.
- Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely.
- Assist with development, and implementation of policies and programs that drive best practices.

**Key Skills and Experience**
- Good knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint, and overall computer skills
- Soft Skills: numerical, logical & good interpersonal skills
- Keen interest in the working with data, numbers and technology
- Willingness to further explore and develop Excel skills
- Ability to communicate within a team and across all levels, including customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to set priorities and manage to tight deadlines
- Willing to travel and build a strong internal network
- Analytical acumen
- Interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity and working with large databases
